It’s DONE! Finally… An Up-Date!

Sunday, May 8th, 2011

I got an update for The Site to work!  I still can’t “Save” th’ thing; th’ computer just will NOT accomplish that!  But that’s not for the viewing public t’ worry about’; THAT’s my problem.

The computer’s still screwed up; I had to use one o’ my programs’ “Boost Mode” to get th’ site to upload.  But it still won’t save anything.  ‘Takes about an hour o’ churnin’ an’ foolin’ around for it to, at l-o-n-g last, tell me it didn’t do anything, at all.  (And my favorite tech still hasn’t bothered to return any of several calls.)  And it quits cold in th’ middle of anything I’m doin’ for no apparent reason.  I had to re-boot to post this… and have no doubt that it won’t be th’ last time!  I’m at my wits end w/th’ thing!

http://timepiecephoto.com/Timepiece_Photo__4_Days_in_Apri.html is one new one.

http://timepiecephoto.com/Timepiece_Photo__An_April_After.html is the other

And there are additions to the Around Here page and the Flowers @ Natural Therapy page.

On the “4 Days…” page, I had been off an’ on shootin’ for the whole 4 days, as it says, and found I had a small potful o’ flix in hand.  ‘Seemed to be th’ natural thing t’ do, to post ‘em all on one page.  So that’s what happened.  On the “April Afternoon” page, it was the same sort o’ thing; I went out wanderin’ ’round th’ neighborhood w/th’ camera in hand and found at the end of th; day that I had some pretty decent work done.  So that got its own page.

The one that may end up gettin’ me into trouble is th’ additions to th’ Around Here page; I didn’t consult w/Her Majesty before including th’ shots of her planting th’ Gardenia bush.  So if and when she gets wind of that, I may get a li’ll bit o’ heat.  But I did include one of her shot at th’ dining room table, looking cleaned up an’ pretty as she an’ her bro. (also included) talked.  That may get me off th’ hook.  We’ll see…

So now I’ll be hittin’ th’ slides again to update that site.  Another stroll down Mem’ry Lane…  That’s always fun; but brings w/th’ fun all th’ hassles that go w/trying to get said slides to look their best.  I’ve already mentioned that I dumped a boatload of ‘em last mo.  They’re still up on th’ shelves, but I’ll have to re-scan ‘em.  ‘Might… an’ then again, I might jus’ move along to “fresh stock” an’ see what’s there.

You’ll hear ’bout it 1st here!

Cheers!

These Slides Are Gonna Drive Me WILD!

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

My total “output” for the last 3 days consists of two not quite finished slides.  Yup!  2

And there’s lotsa room for more work.

The main problem is dust.  The tiniest, almost microscopic little piece will, a) show up, and b) do the strangest things to light. ‘Especially light from a scanner it seems.  I’ll up-load one an’ play “show’n'tell”.

Dirty slide

Found Her in Southern's Maintainance Yard in Alex., Va.

I remember the day I got this one; ‘had m’Boy w/me and he got a ride in the cab with the Engineer!   Eyes like saucers the whole time.  I think his “ride” amounted to maybe a quarter mi.  But HE was pleased as Punch!  He was all of 4 then.

Anyway, there it is in all it’s… let’s jus’ say, “Potential”, t’ be nice about it.  The original is only 1500pixels across th’ long side, so you can see the relative size of the stuff I’m cleaning out of these images.  Those little purple blotches in streaks in the sky have to be dealt with, the what-looks-like mold in the top L, and each and every piece o’ dust has to go, along with whatever it did to the light bending around it… or not.

To get rid of the Stuff on a slide, whatever wouldn’t come off w/a gentle, soft brush, I enlarge it at least 200% with my editor.  I can work at the Pixel Level, my magic to perform.  I’m almost willing to bet, that rascal up above will take a half a day; if I can make it “present” well enough, if I don’t have anything about it to apologize for… And I’m still new enough at the digital stuff to be fairly well in to the “learning curve”. So that’s still a judgment call… on YOUR part.

Maybe I’ll work this one up and re-present it.  For that matter, you can D/L the wee beastie and do YOUR own thing with it.  All I ask is that you don’t DIS-include my watermark.  I’d be curious to see what you do to it.  Comments are enabled; have at it!

Cheers!

‘Nother New Co. Policy

Friday, March 4th, 2011

I’ve been thinkin’ again (I know that’s dangerous, but…) about th’ websites.

I went thru another “row” of slide boxes, about 15 – 20 boxes, and came up w/roughly 650MB
of imagery,  some o’ which will not be “satisfactorily restorable”.  I know; I saw ‘em 1st!  But they’re otherwise good images, dusty to the point of being just nasty to look at, or the color’s a taste “off”, but the picture itself in one I can enjoy.

So… what I figured I’d do is set up a new page for those “marginal” images and give ‘em away!  I’ll have to do a bit more figuring on it as to how; but the idea right now is, if you like an image even thru any obvious flaws, e-mail me (which can already be done from either site) and I’ll get back to you w/a password that will let you D/L that image.  They’ll all have my watermark on ‘em, and I’ll have to trust you not to remove it; but once in your hands, the size and print quality is your responsibility.

It’ll be one way one can own a bit o’ my vision w/o having to risk any money.  And if you like what you see, there’s always the rest of the site(s) to choose from when you’re confident enough of my ability to provide quality images at a price.  Here’s an example:

Workboat

As you can see in this bit-map image, it’s dusty and the boat is a bit “blown out”.  But it’s still a neat image, w/th’ colors an’ all.

So that’s a prime candidate for a Freebies Page.  How ’bout some comment on this as an idea for the site(s).

Thanks and Cheers!
